March For Our Lives is held.

Some 50,000 people, mostly high school students, gather on Boston Common after a march from Madison Park High School. The demonstration is held to protest gun violence and call for stricter gun control and is one of many held throughout the U.S. and around the world, including one that draws some 300,000 to a march in Washington, D.C. In Boston, where shooting deaths of teens doubled in 2017, one of the speakers is a student from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, where a mass shooting by a former student left 17 people dead on February 18, 2018.
